Terms of service

Last updated: October 15, 2026

Terms for using SignComet's free document-signing tools, accounts, electronic signatures and optional AI features.

Using SignComet

These terms govern use of SignComet at signcomet.com. By using the service, you agree to these terms to the extent an agreement can lawfully be formed. If you do not agree, do not use the service. Contact SignComet at hello@signcomet.com. Our privacy policy explains how information is handled.

Eligibility and authority

There is no blanket minimum age for using SignComet. You must have the legal capacity and permission required for your use, and parent or guardian permission and supervision where required. Where law requires verified parental consent for collecting a child's information, the parent or guardian must contact us before account creation or submission of personal information. You may sign only for yourself or a person or organization you are authorized to represent. Access to a signing tool does not establish capacity to enter a binding agreement.

Currently free

SignComet is currently provided free of charge. If paid features are introduced, their price and applicable terms will be disclosed before you choose to purchase them. These terms do not authorize an automatic charge or subscription.

Accounts and recovery

Provide accurate information, use an email address you control, protect your credentials and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. You are responsible for activity you authorize and for protecting your vault passphrase, recovery kit and device. Resetting an account password does not necessarily recover encrypted documents. Keep your own copies of important records; uninterrupted availability or recovery of lost keys is not guaranteed.

Your documents and permissions

You retain your rights in documents and other content you provide. You grant SignComet permission to process, store and transmit that content only as needed to provide the features you request, secure the service and meet applicable obligations. You must have the rights and permissions needed to upload content, invite recipients and share information, including with optional AI providers. Other participants may retain copies and agreement evidence after your access ends.

Electronic signatures

Review the full document, recipient details and fields before signing. Explicitly confirming a signature records your intent in the relevant workflow. You are responsible for determining whether electronic signing is suitable for the document, parties and applicable law; some transactions require additional formalities. SignComet does not guarantee enforceability, verify every signer's legal identity, act as a notary or provide legal advice. Quick signing on your device does not include a verified identity audit or certificate. Hosted completion uses the service's configured signing identity; it is not a promise of a qualified signature, publicly trusted signing certificate or independent timestamp.

Acceptable use

Do not impersonate others, forge signatures, submit unlawful content, send unsolicited invitations, infringe others' rights, bypass access controls, probe accounts without authorization, distribute malware or disrupt the service. Do not use SignComet to misrepresent consent, identity or authority. We may apply reasonable usage and security limits and investigate suspected abuse.

Optional AI and third parties

Gemini explanations are optional and may send the original PDF and your question to Google as described in the privacy policy and feature notice. AI output may be incomplete or wrong. Verify it against the document and seek qualified advice when needed; it does not replace your own review. Third-party services, including Google sign-in, may have their own terms and availability limits.

Availability and changes

We aim to operate the service reliably but do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free results or a particular response time. Features may change or be suspended for maintenance, security or operational reasons. We will provide notice of material changes where reasonably practicable. Keep independent copies of important completed documents.

Ending use and retention

You may stop using SignComet and request account deletion in Settings & security after resolving unfinished agreements. We may suspend access for serious misuse, security risks or legal requirements. Account deletion is not permanent erasure of shared agreements or evidence; the retention details in our privacy policy apply. Contact us about access or deletion concerns.

Responsibility and legal rights

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the free service is provided as available without additional warranties. SignComet is not responsible for the accuracy, lawfulness or enforceability of documents supplied by users, or loss caused by unauthorized disclosure of your recovery materials. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable protections relating to fraud, deliberate misconduct or negligence. No arbitration requirement or waiver of mandatory rights is imposed by these terms.

Questions, disputes and updates

Contact hello@signcomet.com first so we can try to resolve a concern. Applicable mandatory law and your rights to approach a competent court or regulator remain unaffected. We may update these terms and will identify the revision date and communicate material changes as appropriate. New charges require a separate purchase decision.
